KITCHEN DESIGN ASSISTANT – ENTRY LEVEL

Kitchen design assistants are responsible for assisting kitchen designers with various tasks and provide direct administrative support to kitchen designers. They may be tasked with running errands, answering phones, greeting clients, contacting clients to obtain important information, placing orders with vendors, drafting and many varied tasks.

The field is perfect for anyone with a creative or artistic background who enjoys working with others and making spaces beautiful. Experience with AutoCad is helpful.  With an established and proven track record this position can lead to various other career opportunities within the organization.

DRAFTS-PERSON – ENTRY LEVEL

 Job Duties. A drafts-person’s key duty is to create drawings using AutoCAD, which are infused with various technical details which are appropriate to the specific project. In a custom cabinetry manufacturing firm architectural drafters lay out and assist in designing cabinetry for a residential home for kitchen, bathrooms, custom  built-in, home offices, bars, etc.  As an entry level drafts-person you will be trained and work under experienced drafts-people and experienced designers.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Detail oriented. Drafters must pay close attention to details so that the plans they produce are technically accurate according to the outlined specifications.

Computer Aided Drafting – basic experience utilizing CAD software.  AutoCad

Interpersonal Skills. Drafters work closely with design engineers and other team members to make sure that final plans are accurate. This requires the ability to communicate effectively and work well with others. Be able to take direction from other team members.

Math Skills. Drafters work on technical drawings. They may be required to solve mathematical calculations involving factors such as fractions, angles, metric measurements. Strong algebra and geometry skills are beneficial.

Technical skills. Drafters in all specialties must be able to use computer software such as CAD.

Time-management skills. Drafters often work under strict deadlines. As a result, they must work efficiently to produce the required output according to set schedules.  Occasionally flexibility in work hours is required to from time to time.

Creativity. Drafters must be able to turn plans and ideas into technical drawings that will guide the creation of real interior space planning and cabinetry design.
